Gorongosa, Niassa and Maputo National Park — wild, uncrowded and deeply connected to conservation work.
Mozambique's parks are not the busy circuits of East Africa. Gorongosa is the flagship: after decades of loss, its wildlife populations have been rebuilt through one of Africa's most ambitious restoration projects, and visitors travel with guides who are part of that work. Niassa Special Reserve is one of the largest protected areas on the continent, remote and lightly visited. Maputo National Park is the easiest to reach from the capital, and its elephants move between woodland and the coast.
