Limpopo National Park
Mozambique's share of the Great Limpopo transfrontier park, connected to South Africa's Kruger.
Limpopo National Park covers around 10,000 km² of mopane woodland, sandveld and the Shingwedzi river system. Together with Kruger National Park in South Africa and Gonarezhou in Zimbabwe it forms the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area — fences between Limpopo and Kruger were dropped so that wildlife can move across the old border.
This is a genuinely wild, self-drive park rather than a lodge circuit. Wildlife densities are lower than in Kruger and sightings take patience, but the landscape is vast and you may not see another vehicle all day. The Giriyondo border post allows direct crossing from Kruger.
