Gorongosa's restored wilderness paired with the Bazaruto Archipelago — bush and ocean in one trip.
Mozambique's great combination: a few days inside Gorongosa National Park, one of the most significant conservation projects in Africa, followed by the islands off Vilankulo. It needs one internal flight to work comfortably, but the contrast is worth the logistics.

Into Gorongosa
Drive inland to the park. Arrive at Chitengo, settle in, and take an afternoon game drive onto the Rift Valley floodplain.

Gorongosa game drives
A full day in the park: dawn drive across the floodplain for waterbuck, buffalo and elephant, and an afternoon drive into the fever-tree forest. Visit the park's science centre between drives.

Mount Gorongosa
Hike into the rainforest on Mount Gorongosa to the Murombodzi waterfall with community guides, and visit the shade-coffee project that funds forest restoration on the mountain.

Beira to Vilankulo
